More From Canyon Lake

We're so enjoying our time here! Yesterday we took a walk around the wildlife preserve and the lake. Teddi decided to take a dip in the lake and brought two treasures (at least they were to her!) up to the path. This was her first time swimming in a lake - she was SO funny! Baxter went in only up to his tummy, then decided to just try to take what Teddi "rescued". Went for a few groceries and some deer corn in the afternoon so we could entice them to our campsite. It's such fun seeing them come running when they know you have food for them. I even had one eating out of my hand. Dan & Mel fed them again this AM. The days here have been pretty nice, but the nights are cool. Tomorrow is to be in the mid. 70's, so I'm looking forward to that. Later . . . .

A beautiful day in the neighborhood today! The sun was out, so it warmed up a little bit. The folks here are real friendly. The campground is bordered on one side by a wildlife refuge, and the deer walk right into the campground! They aren't afraid of people at all, but the dogs make them a bit nervous. Got some great pics! That's brother-in-law Mel feeding the doe some corn.

Sadly, we've left our friends(and the warm weather it seems)behind and have been traveling westward for the last two days. Spent last night parked at a casino - no gambling! We have found a new "home" at Canyon Lake Point Resort in Texas today. Hope to be here at least a few days. On the down side, Texas is in a deep freeze right now, but at least we don't have snow! I must say, Texas isn't the most scenic state - at least along I-10! The sunset tonight was awesome, though.  Missing y'all! More soon . . .

Friday, Jan. 6

We're having a great time in Alabama! Shopped a little today (or is it shopping if you don't buy anything?), spent the afternoon at the gulf and walked out on the pier to watch fishermen and take pictures. Beautiful weather! I could really get used to this! Late afternoon spent with friends Ken and Pat from Mattawan, and some new friends from near Three Rivers. Small world! After going out for pizza with them, then grocery shopping, we're finally back "home". Time for this old girl to call it a day!

OK, so today, I felt like I was still at home-- turns out the deep south is having a deep freeze! On the bright side, we brought winter wear, the grass is still green, flowers are blooming and it's supposed to be 70 in a couple of days! I can wait! Saw Kalamazoo on the national news with all the snow falling. It sure was pretty! Nice to look at, great not to have to shovel it!

Repairs made, must move to a new campground tomorrow :( . A little cool today (57). Watched the Spartans beat Houston this pm. Took a drive down to the beach this evening -- the sunset was beautiful! Hopefully I'll figure out how to post pictures soon.

The sun is shining, the grass is green, the orange and palm trees sway . . . oh, what a wonderful day! I didn't have to wear closed shoes, which I hate, took the dogs for a walk and made our traditional sauerkraut with dumplings supper for luck in the new year - life is good, in spite of the broken jack on our fifth wheel and major trouble aligning the satellite dish! Repairman to arrive tomorrow, and PENN STATE FOOTBALL!! WE ARE!!!
